Just bought this tarzan t-shirt!

Today the lauftreff training was led by Manuel Jonasch. We started with a warm up, then walked a special bare foot trail, did some coordination exercise and finally the intervall training. Of course we had to jog back afterwards! At the very end, after the stretching we all lay flat in the grass and relaxed. And the very best: Manuel told us to shorten the training from time to time for some minutes and to do nothing instead. Really nothing. What a relaxing tip in this hectic world. Thanks for the training, Manuel 🙂

PS. we trained for more than 90 minutes…

Seen on TV

Like many others I am using Flickr as a CMS for a website using Satellite. Unfortunatly Satellite offers no support for authenticated calls which I need now to get private pictures on the website. So I need to adjust Satellite myself, which is challenging, considering the fact that I know php only marginally. But then a programming language is a programming language is a programming language (I know that there are differences and everybody has his/her favorite, but I am not going into this). The documentation on Flickr Services is ok, but not extremely helpful. phpFlickr offered the most promising help, especially the authentication tool was very helpful (didn’t work with Safari though, Firefox was ok). phpFlickr also takes care of the ordering of the parameters and the creation of the api signature for you.  So know the only task remaining is to make Satellite work together with phpFlickr… If I get it running I let you know here.

O, yes nearly forgot the running. Joined the Birslauf today. Was a lot of fun!

Running again

March 16, 2008

Don’t worry, that’s not going to be a sports blog. May be I should start twittering about my runnings. Or not. But what came to my mind while running, was, that I am probably more a mind blogger than an actual blogger. Often when I am running or on my way with the bycicle I think about. And lately I noticed that I started to think if something would be interesting to blog about. Unfortunately it seems that thinking about blogging somehow prevents the actual blogging. Like having thougt about something actually is enough, may be to get a clearer picture of something or so. And then I often lack the motivation to actually write about it…

Running

March 12, 2008

The second time with the lauftreff. Today there was no slow group. (Last time the slow group wasn’t really slow, at least not in my opinion). But today we started really fast. I didn’t know how far you could go in an hour. The good thing about running in the group

  • It’s motivating
  • The people are very nice
  • and supporting
  • It’s longer than I usually run
  • It’s faster than I usually run.
  • I see places and streets I never were before (and I live know for nearly 15 years in Basel!)

Only one negative point: It’s mostly on paved streets… and my foot is complaining a bit.

As nchenga wrote we were evaluating fitness centers. Beeing tech geeks, we took the evaluation seriously. But today was the day and I subscribed. Started with a power yoga session because of my cold.  Lesson learned:

  1. no big difference regarding the instructions
  2. they don’t negotiate. Obviously, there is no need.
  3. courses won
  4. and the sauna…

Vacation

February 29, 2008

Last week we spent in Mon close to Savognin. Boyzeler was the first time on skis and he does it quite well. But after a while he sure preferred playing with water, snow and stones, as he proved by taking this picture:

Besides skiing we also went sledding. On our way to the Alp Flix we made a fire in the snow. This the kids found particular funny, especially when M. showed them what to use to start the fire without paper. All in all week with a lot of fun!
